It is fun to play with, but not fun to put together

My daughter received this for Christmas. She was very excited that Santa brought this, but it did take us quite a long time to put the castle together. I will let my daughter take over so you can get it from the horse's mouth:

"It is really hard to build. You need to know when to push gently and when to push hard (to make sure that it clicks into place). It will test your patience!! (and your Dad's too!, editorial comment) We had to start some sections over a couple of times and some of the pieces did not fit together very well.

But, when you finishing building it, it is worth it! You get a round table for all of the knights, so you can see how many knights you have collected from King Arthur's Round Table. It has many booby traps to spring on the enemy, but you risk losing pieces if you use them!

This is really fun to use because you can make your own kingdoms and it is worth the effort, in the end! I think this set is good for the ages of ten and up."

There you go. I would concur with my daughter. It was a lot of work putting it together, but she is enjoying it very much!

Having put this toy together after my son got it for christmas, I was surprised to read the bad reviews here. My 9 yr old son and I (mostly Me) put it together. My son enjoys the playing not the building whether it's legos or anything else. Instructions were very clear. Assembly was a little time consuming, but no more so than for a legos construction. We had no problem with pieces fitting together and staying together. There are a few places when building the towers where you have to hold the tower as you push on the new piece or it may come apart (but easily put back together. After reading the negative reviews I went back and checked the stabiblity of the castle, picking it up by the smaller pieces on top and even moving it about, Nothing came apart. I'm not sure why others are having problems. Certainly its not designed for rough play, but normal play ours holds together great. No, the larger pieces don't fit as tightly as legos. (Legos can sometimes be a challenge to pry apart when you want to ) The only negative I can report is that we had about 4 pieces missing. I have not yet contacted them for replacements so I don't know if that will be a problem. Overall we are quite happy with the castle. But no, a 4 or 5 year old will not be able to roll it across the floor like he could a lego built product.

This is definitely tricky to put together in places, but I didn't find it as frustrating as some of the other reviewers here. It's a joint adult-child task; if I'd left my 7-year-old alone to put it together, he'd have been frustrated; but doing it together he had a lot of fun and now he's figured things out enough that when a bit falls off (bits definitely fall off pretty regularly!), he knows how to put them back on.

The key issue is probably price. I paid about $[...] for it and I'm very happy -- it was one of the best things my son got this Christmas. If I'd paid the supposed full price (70-80) then I'd be less happy with the purchase. Either way, it's provided hours of fun both constructing and playing.

Because all of the pieces are not "traditional" Lego-style shape, the pieces all need to be pushed on very well so that those you are adding to them will also stay on as you build and play. This can be a bit challenging for smaller fingers as they are not as strong as an adult's, but it gets you in there working with your kids as they build, which is never a bad thing. However, that said, having "non-traditional" pieces are what make this an awesome set. It's Playmobile meets Lego without having to have both kinds of toys! Once assembled it looks like a play castle that doesn't come apart. Once assembled it closes up nicely on "hinges" and as long as you've pushed the pieces together well it does not fall apart easily--even at the hinges--we can even move the whole thing to a different location without it falling apart. You child will be very disappointed if they don't get some help from stronger fingers as then it will fall apart easily. One of our pieces was "warped" and we are hoping to see a replacement piece arrive soon (we had the same problem with a completely different Mega Bloks piece in the ship set). I'm giving 5 stars on everything based on the assumption we will get a replacement part. If not, I'll update this and it will lose stars as who wants a set that can't be built correctly becasue of a bad piece? This set is being used for many different play "scenerios".....not just King Arthur. It comes with some great accessories for the characters and set.

I got this toy for my son, he enjoyed it very much.. he stills plays with it.. you can create different castle with it.. kids will love this toy. I don't recommend kids under 6 to play with it because it has very small blocks.
